About the Role Join a small, agile AI Product Innovation team pushing the boundaries of AI in a live marketplace environment. You will rapidly prototype and deploy AI-powered features from internal tooling and proof-of-concepts to experiments directly impacting millions of users (e.g., smarter matching, automation, content generation, or personalized recommendations). This role combines strong software engineering with AI experimentation, focusing on speed, validation, and real-world iteration to drive product innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Rapidly build, test, and iterate on AI-powered features across internal tools, prototypes, and live marketplace experiments (e.g., generative AI for content, automation workflows, or intelligent matching).
- Explore and validate emerging AI technologies (LLMs, agents, retrieval systems, or custom models) to identify high-impact opportunities.
- Design and implement end-to-end AI solutions: from ideation and prototyping in notebooks to production integration with robust APIs, monitoring, and scalability.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, data scientists, and engineers to define experiments, measure impact (e.g., user metrics, efficiency gains), and prioritize features.
- Own the full lifecycle of AI innovations: discovery → prototyping → testing → rollout → iteration based on real data and feedback.
- Establish engineering best practices for AI experimentation (e.g., fast iteration loops, A/B testing, evaluation frameworks, and maintainable code).
- Contribute to broader product strategy by providing technical insights on feasible AI capabilities and trade-offs.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of innovation and rapid learning.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of strong software engineering experience with proven production-level delivery (senior roles value hands-on impact in dynamic environments).
- Proficiency in Python (core for AI/ML) and TypeScript/JavaScript (for frontend/integration or full-stack elements).
- Hands-on experience with modern AI tools/frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Hugging Face, LangChain, OpenAI APIs, or similar for rapid prototyping).
- Solid full-stack or backend engineering fundamentals: APIs, databases, cloud services (AWS/GCP/Azure), Docker/containerization, and CI/CD.
- Experience shipping AI/ML features or experiments in production (even small-scale).
- Bachelor’s/master’s in computer science, Engineering, AI, or related field (practical experience prioritized over formal degrees).
- Strong problem-solving, ability to work autonomously in ambiguous/fast-moving settings, and passion for AI-driven product impact.
Preferred Skills / Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with generative AI, LLMs, RAG, agents, or prompt engineering in real products.
- Familiarity with marketplace dynamics (e.g., matching algorithms, user personalization, content moderation).
- Knowledge of evaluation/metrics for AI features (A/B testing, user studies, offline/online eval).
- Exposure to MLOps basics for experimentation (e.g., versioning, monitoring).
- Portfolio or examples of shipped AI prototypes/experiments.
